What do you do with all of those ink toner cartridges that your office uses each day? How about all of the paper that is tossed out after being looked at for just a few seconds? Now, what do you do with all of the dead batteries from different gadgets around the office? I created this blog to help other businesses find methods of recycling the many recyclable materials that come in and out of the office in a day. It is my hope that knowing what can be done with these things will help keep them out of the landfill.
If you have a company that ends up with a lot of different types of materials or items to dispose of, then you may want to stop throwing them away and instead sell or recycle those items, so your company turns what would be financial losses into financial gains. Here are some of the different ways you can earn extra money for your company.
Sell wood pallets
A lot of companies have products delivered on wood pallets. Once they take the products off of the wood pallets, they end up breaking them up and disposing of them. However, there are many people who would purchase those wood pallets from you. A lot of people who refurbish or make different kinds of furniture like to use wood pallets. Some of the things people repurpose wood pallets for include lifted dog beds for medium to large breed dogs, creative outdoor benches, unique coffee tables and even décor to hang on the walls after adding some creative touches to them. You can advertise the pallets on local classified sites, on social media or even with a sign in front of your company.
If you end up with a lot of paper to throw away, you can reuse the paper and end up saving the company a lot of money. For example, if you have a lot of paper you are ready to throw away, put it through a paper shredder instead and use the paper to protect your fragile items that you need to ship out. This will end up saving you from spending money on packing materials like packing peanuts or bubble wrap.
Recycle copper wiring
If you have a lot of copper wiring, you may not realize the copper inside of that wiring can help you earn some good money. You can recycle the copper wiring as 'dirty' and this means you recycle it 'as is'. Or, you can strip the wiring and remove all of the copper from it and recycle it as 'clean'. You will get more money for clean copper than if you don't strip it.
Recycle scrap metal
If you end up with a fair amount of industrial scrap metal from some of your projects, then you know how much room it can take up and how much it can cost to have it hauled off. Instead, you can recycle that industrial scrap metal and earn money back on it. You can even arrange for an industrial scrap metal pickup, so you don't have to pay to have it brought to the recycling center.
