recycling things around the office

What do you do with all of those ink toner cartridges that your office uses each day? How about all of the paper that is tossed out after being looked at for just a few seconds? Now, what do you do with all of the dead batteries from different gadgets around the office? I created this blog to help other businesses find methods of recycling the many recyclable materials that come in and out of the office in a day. It is my hope that knowing what can be done with these things will help keep them out of the landfill.

2 Ways To Get The Most Money When You Sell Scrap Metal

Micheal Wagner

If you are going to start collecting scrap metal so that you can sell it to a recycling center, there are some things that you are going to want to do so that you can make sure that you are going to get the best possible return on your work.

Keep Track of Prices

One of the things that you are going to want to do is to keep track of the prices that you are going to get from selling the metal. The prices can vary and rise and fall. You want to be able to get the most money you can, and knowing what any particular metal is going for at any moment can help you with that. You can track the metal prices online by checking them daily. You can also check with the metal recycling centers you work with to see how much they are offering. Their prices are going to be tied to the global prices, but won't be the exact same, because they need to be able to get the metal from you and then turn around and make a profit.

Clean the Metal

Another thing that you want to do in order to make more money when you are selling your recycled scrap metal is to make sure that the metal is clean. You don't have to make it all nice and shiny without any bit of dirt or rust on it, but if you can get most of the dirt, rust, or whatever else off the metal, then you are going to be more likely to get a good price. This is especially true when it comes to copper wiring. You want to strip off all the insulation because it will save the recycling center having to do it, and it will get rid of any excess weight. Stripping insulation off the wire is something that is pretty easy to do. All you need is a pair of strippers, and then you just grab the insulation and pull it off. Once you have done that, just bundle the wire together, because that will keep everything nice and neat, which the scrap metal center will also appreciate.

If you are going to sell scrap metal to earn some extra money, you want to make sure that you are doing it right. That will let you make the most money possible.  For more information, contact companies such as Gutterman Iron & Metal Corp.
